Considered one of nature's original superfoods, chlorella is a type of single-celled algae that grows naturally in the environmentally pristine coral reef region of Japan's Ishigaki island. A source of vitamins and minerals, chlorella also supplies chlorophyll—the compound in plants responsible for converting energy from sunlight into food for the plant.
